Service Description: Employment Programs
Specialized Training for Employment Program (STEP):
  • training and support to youth who self-identify with employment barriers including mental health challenges
  • one-on-one employment counselling, job coaching and paid work placement opportunities
  • certification opportunities for Food Handlers, Smart Serve, WHIMS, First Aid/CPR and Cannsell

Every Bite Matters (EBM):
  • a paid 14 week youth employment program that provides culinary training while promoting social inclusivity in the community
  • includes 3 weeks of pre-employment workshops, 6 weeks in the 360°kids Newmarket Youth HUB commercial training kitchen where participants further develop culinary skills, and a 5 week job placement with a community employer
  • certification opportunities for Food Handlers, Smart Serve, WHIMS, First Aid/CPR and Cannsell

Base 4 Success (B4S):
  • a 12 week paid employment program for youth who face barriers to employment
  • includes 4 weeks of pre-employment and life skill development workshops, and a 8 week job placement with a community employer
  • certification opportunities for Food Handlers, Smart Serve, WHIMS, First Aid/CPR and Cannsell

Supporting Students to Work (SSW):
  • supports high school students with barriers to employment by providing readiness skill-building training and supports, helping secure first work opportunities
  • participants will receive prevailing Ontario student minimum wage rates while accessing employability training
  • certification opportunities for Food Handlers, High 5, WHIMS and First Aid/CPR
  • at the end of the program, participants will be employed part-time and have received a minimum of 12 weeks post-employment job coaching and guidance

Youth Success Strategy (YSS):
YSS Employment Counseller assists youth in reaching their employment goals who:
  • do not require the supports of a formal program or
  • do not meet eligibility criteria of our formal program

Eligibility / Target Population: 15 to 30 years old at the time of registration in the program * Ontario Resident; SIN card and eligible to work in Canada * Unemployed, or has part-time casual, sporadic or seasonal work * Not participating in another full-time training program
