Province Investing Over $2 Million to Enhance Community Safety

Ontario is investing in 25 community safety and well-being programs across the province to support local police and community groups in their efforts to build safer, stronger communities.
The province is providing over $2 million through the Proceeds of Crime Front-Line Policing Grant to help local police services and community groups carry out crime prevention and community safety initiatives. The grant money comes from assets that have been forfeited to the federal government as proceeds of crime and turned over to the province following criminal prosecutions.
This year, projects that are being funded include:
- Youth mentoring programs
- Training initiatives for social and health workers to better support and treat their clients with mental health challenges
- Programs that help combat domestic violence through early intervention.
The funding will also support the expansion of situation tables across the province that bring together local police, social services, health care, education, and community partners to increase early intervention, proactively prevent crime and help build stronger communities.
Supporting safe, healthy communities is part of the government's plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.
