Tell all the ladies Mammothon is May 6

North York General
News & Community

Mammothon is a one-day breast screening blitz taking place on Wednesday, May 6 at North York General Hospital's (NYGH) Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site, located in the Branson Ambulatory Care Centre and simultaneously at participating OBSP sites in York Region, North York and South Simcoe.

Women, 50 to 74, who have never had a mammogram or who have not been screened in over two years are encouraged to take action and get screened at North York General's OBSP site located at 555 Finch Avenue West on May 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mammograms can be pre-booked by calling 416-632-8748.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, but only 61% of eligible women in Ontario are being screened for breast cancer. According to Cancer Care Ontario, this disease affects one in nine women, most of whom do not have a family history of breast cancer.

The OBSP provides high-quality breast screening free of charge for Ontario women.
If you know a lady who would benefit from regular breast screening – send her our Facebook invite or tell her to visit www.mammothon.ca.

A woman not thinking a mammogram is necessary, not having time to book or make it to an appointment, and fears of results are common reasons women do not go for mammograms. Mammothon is designed to help break down those barriers by providing a positive breast screening experience.
