Service Description: Falls prevention classes offered by therapy assistants * classes are delivered under the supervision of a registered physiotherapist * occupational therapists can be provided as required

Programming includes a balance of assessment of risk of fall, review of the environmental risks, personal health assessment of risk * balance, mobility and strategies to decrease falls * interactive, personal individual intervention as well as a group training program as part of the exercise program

Client and caregiver education includes the client, family and staff * within the group sessions, additional learning is achieved by active participation and self-reflection

Goals of the classes/program include: education towards lowering each participant's risk of fall, action plans to be put into place to remove risks from the participant's home/environment, improving the participant's ability to recognize risk and to take his/her health into account at all times
